Gwynne shrugged and opened her mouth to reply when her phone vibrated sharply in her pocket. She gave a little involuntary jump as it happened and quickly dug it out.
"Personal Brain Killing Device," she said, rolling her eyes and flipping the phone open. She took a moment to realize she had actually received a text message. Red tinted Gwynne's cheeks as she murmured "Oops."
She pressed a few buttons on the keypad of the phone then selected the new message, eyes widening as she read it. Her heart fluttered with a sense of near panic, her grip on the table now turning her knuckles white.
"I'm so," she swore, "stupid," Gwynne suddenly burst out, getting out of the booth. "I'm sorry Nathan but I really have to go." She didn't dare mention the reason why. This was one secret she intended to keep to herself and her family.
Not wanting to leave on that weak note, she added, "Oh and you seem quiet at first sight, but you're a good guy and I like you. Loosen up a little." Chewing the inside of her lip, she realized what she said could be taken in two ways, but she decided to leave that decision for Nathan as she waved good-bye and fled from the shop, tossing a few coins to land skidding at the waitress's feet.

Nathan smiled at Gwynne's name for her cellphone, watching her flip it open. His smile widened slightly at her mistake, but tried to hide it. He didn't like making people feel more embarrassed than they already were. His eyebrows raised at her reaction to the text message and was about to ask what was wrong but she started speaking first.
She was speaking so quickly that he didn't have a chance to respond. "Oh and you seem quiet at first sight, but you're a good guy and I like you. Loosen up a little." He blinked and wasn't quite sure how she meant that comment. The thought of her liking him as more of a friend already didn't seem right, which was a good thing. He decided to stop thinking about it and just take it as a compliment.
Nathan glanced up at the large clock on the wall realizing how long he'd been here for. He peered out the window. It appeared that the wind had died down a bit, and just in time. He noticed the waitress skipping toward him once again. Nathan bit his lip and stood up, quickly walking out of the shop.
