Luna stirred the coffee on the table in front of her absently, her rapt attention was caught by the book that lay next to it on the table. It was an amazing love story, the kind where the handsome prince whisks away the lonely princess... the kind of story her life would never be... thankfully. There were three reasons why her life would never go that way, the first was that she was far more likely to be rescuing someone than needing rescue, the second was that she wasn't really all that lonely, and the third being that there was an ungodly lack of princes at Winter Creek. However, the story was nice.
She picked her coffee up in one hand and took a sip, it had cooled down enough to drink, which meant she'd been sitting here... for just about fifteen minutes, and was already a quarter of the way through the book. She leaned back in the chair, and sighed contentedly, it wasn't often that she got to relax, what with her grueling training sessions, classes, and activities. So she relished the moments when she could actually, sit back, and take a load off.
Moments like this one.
She turned the page and read on, the prince had lost the princess... apparently she'd gone off with a Unicorn when he wasn't looking, so now he had to chase her half way across the world to get her back... and she still didn't believe that he loved her. Luna found herself sympathizing with the Prince... and wondering why he was still chasing after a spoiled rotten little brat... but then again, he was a man... and men were always chasing after women, whether they (the men) knew it or not.

Chrissy was having to read this book for class. It was a romance novel and she had just spent the last half hour reading one page because she kept falling asleep midway through. And for about the millionth time, she lifted her head from the table, yawned as she rubbed her eyes. She was thankful this time that she didn't find any drool on the table or the book. It was rather embarrassing the last time. She let out a sigh and closed the book. "I'm never going to finish this book," she said to herself. Then getting up to have a stretch.
Chrissy actually loved reading and loved all types of books but when it came to reading for a class, no matter what book it was, she found it very difficult to read. Staring down at the book on the table, standing behind the chair with her hands on the back. She'd have to go online and research the book on sparknotes or something. Finally, giving up, she grabbed the book and stuffed it in her messenger bag.
She turned to head out, only to find Luna with a cup of coffee reading the same book. She smiled and walked over to her. "You stuck reading this book for class too?" she asked. "I can't seem to stay awake," she complained, not realizing that Luna might actually enjoy this book.

Luna looked up at the sound of the girls voice. "Yeah, I am. It's a good book though... if a little..." She couldn't quite find the word she was looking for. "Garish?" It fit the book perfectly but wasn't the one she was looking for. "How can you have trouble staying awake during the book. It's exciting... and adventure-y... and well." She smiled and shook her head, eloquence just wasn't her thing today.
She took another sip of coffee, it was still warm enough to be good, but cool enough to drink. She rolled her shoulders and motioned for the girl to sit down. "What part did you get to maybe I can fill you in." It technically wasn't cheating to sit down and discuss the book outside of class... so filling the girl in couldn't possibly get her in trouble. Besides, she liked to be helpful, and it could never hurt to help out people who might someday be able to help you.

Chrissy smiled at Luna's comment. "I didn't know you were into romance novels," she teased. For being a jock, sometimes Luna could surprise you.
Chrissy nodded, a gesture of thanks for inviting her to sit with her. Placing her messenger bag at her foot and grabbing the novel out from it, she opened it to the first page. "Well, let's see here, I've only reached the second page ...," she smiled sheepishly and laughed, pausing a moment before she spoke again. "Don't get me wrong," she said glancing up at Luna. "I can tell why people might enjoy it. It has it's ... charm, for a lack of better words and I was so excited to read it from the summary," she laughed softly. "but I just can't seem to get into it. And I need to have chapters 1-3 read by tomorrow so we can discuss it in class," she said with a sigh. She looked up at Luna in defeat as if there were no solution to her problem. "Why don't you pose as me and go to discussion group for me tomorrow," she smiled.

Luna nodded sagely. She quickly flipped through chapters two and three, chapter one was easy to remember. "I don't really like romance novels, this one is just... different." She thought for a moment. "Okay, so in chapter one..." Luna went on to explain the whole complicated, convoluted and altogether way too sappy plot to Chrissy. By the time she finished she was more than ready for a drink of her now slightly cooled off coffee.
"So you see, it's really very simple to understand." The sarcasm dripped from her voice. The Book was anything but simple, especially for a romance. "If you have any more questions about it just feel free to ask, I'll probably be here for..." She looked at her watch, there was about two hours till swim team practice. "Probably the next two hours." She smiled, then laughed, "I don't really have much of a life."

Chrissy listened carefully, well, as carefully as she could. Her thoughts came in and out all the while keeping up the act that she was listening very carefully. And it wasn't that the story line was boring and in no way was Chrissy trying to be rude but it was just really hard for Chrissy to listen all the way through without her thoughts going off to la-la land. For instance, the mention of the male role came across and his interaction with the star female ... it brought her to think of her first crush back home. It was one sided but he really liked baseball, then her thoughts from the boy to baseball, from baseball to hot dogs, from hot dogs to...'i'm hungry' she smiled as she continued to look as if she was listening intently. She added a nod in there a few times.
She sat bak in her chair. she got the gist of it. "Well, it's simple enough," she said with a laugh and rolled her eyes. She closed her book. "Thanks so much for taking this time for me," and stuffed the book back in her bag. "You know, I'm kind of hungry. You want to get some food with me while you wait?" she suggested.

Luna nodded. "Okay sure...just give me a moment." She downed the rest of her coffee and carefully marked her place in her book, and tucked it into her bag. She looked around to make sure that she hadn't forgot anything. Then stood up. She stretched, suprised that her back felt so sore after only a half hour. '...maybe I should cut back on the workouts... She leaned backwards and her back let out a series of louds snaps and pops.
With a look of relief she turned back to Crissy, "So where do you want to go?"
