Lying back on the bottom bunk of his dorm room, Jake flipped though some random book he had found open on the futon across the room. Russell and Jake had chosen to put the futon in the room on the off chance that anyone would want to sleep over. As though they would really want to see any more of these people than they had to during the day. Jake figured the book was Russell’s. There were no drawings in the corners of the pages, the spin was still perfect, there were no pictures, and it was fairly thick. Clearly not Jake’s… so there was no other option. Russell never seemed to care for Jake messing with his books, because Jake would open to a random page, bend back the front cover, just to read a paragraph before getting bored and tossing the book to the ground. This time Jake would not toss the book aside because of boredom. As he read the first line his eyes fell on, the elixir of life was drunk in all innocence, and my dog had nothing to do with it… hmm, actually sounded a bit interesting, but a knock against the door interrupted him. The book hit the floor as quickly as Jake’s feet did. He crossed the room and opened the door to his visitor.

Luna had been feeling adventurous, which was never really a good thing. It had been the feeling of adventure which had led her to enter the boys dorm, and knock on a random door. She smiled as she waited in the hall, for an answer, she had heard a thump from the inside, so she knew that someone was in there... and she wished they'd hurry up and open the door, there was a weird smell in the hallway... like something had gone for too long without being washed, or had gone bad in the refrigerator and hadn't been thrown out.
When the door finally did open, she didn't even bother to look at the person who opened it before she darted into the room. She muttered a quick, "Sorry for interupting." As she passed. Once she was safely in the room she noticed that the smell (whatever it was) had indeed been confined to the hallway... and wasn't leaking out from one of the rooms, as she'd feared. She took a moment to look around the dorm, and noticed that it was a little bit smaller than the girl dorms, and it was relatively clean... which surprised her, she'd been one of those people who thought that boy's were habitually messy, and only girls could keep their rooms clean.
She finally turned around to look at her 'host', and immediately took notice of the blond hair, and the grey eyes. Inwardly she took a mental tally of everything the guy had going for him, and concluded that: he was attractive... and she was in his room. Awkward. She lost a great deal of herself confidence in the next couple of moments... and had to work hard to get it back. "Um.. Hi... I'm Luna."

Jake accidentally kicked the dropped book under this book, along with other crap that he had shoved under there so Russell wouldn’t freak out at him. Russ was slightly taller, so it was only right that he should get the top bunk… and for once Jake hadn’t argued. He was secretly a little afraid of heights, even if it was just sleeping at his own eye level. The one thing they didn’t seem to be able to agree on was the state of their room. Jake was loads messier than Russell, and if it wasn’t for his cousin’s nature, the room would have been a pig’s sty.
Opening the door, Jake was a little surprised to find a girl there. She was older, but he was fairly sure she wasn’t in his own year. He thought he knew her from the sports teams that were given so much attention at this school. But he did not get a chance to check, or even say hello for that matter. He was brushed past and left standing by his own door in surprise. He was not sure what she was on about, but he peeked out the door, expecting a crowd of sports fans to be following her, before shutting it. It was frowned upon to have the opposite sex in your room, but it was still day, so it would probably be gotten away with.
Jake got a quirky little smile on his lips. The peculiar circumstance puzzled him, which was clear by his raised brow, but he was also amused, which was clear by his smile and tone. “Jake.” He cleared his throat and walked forward, gesturing to the futon, which was up in sofa form at the moment. “Would you like to have a seat?” Do you need to take a seat more like it. He could not imagine what had brought her to his door.

Luna smiled, her natural confidence reasserting itself. "Why yes, thank you." She sat down on the futon with as much grace as she could muster, which admittedly wasn't a whole lot. Smiling to cover any possible embarrassment she looked around the room again, still surprised that it was clean. There were admittedly many things she didn't know about men, but she had thought she at least had that piece of them figured out.
She looked over at Jake, deciding that it might be more interesting to study the man than the room, which was when she noticed the raised brow, and the smile. A clear case of mixed signals. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she tried to figure out what he was thinking, and realized he was probably wondering why she was in his room. Silently she wished she had an explanation for him. Truth be told however, she knew why she was here only slightly better than he did, and then only because she had access to her own thoughts, which at this moment wasn't much of a comfort.
She realized she was staring and quickly averted her eyes. An almost imperceptible blush crept into her cheeks. She tried to think of something to say while she composed herself, and finally came up with the very lame, and not quite accurate. "Thanks for inviting me in."
