In libraries the sound of snuffling, sneezing, cough, hyperventilating, it was all amplified. Rather than be a quiet place to think, the sounds of people spreading their germs hit Othello like thunder. Incessant roll after roll, sneeze after sneeze, Othello felt like a basket case, sitting at that table by himself, unable to tune out as his mind was far too busy a place to not notice every little detail. Gloved fingertips of a boney hand slid over the hard wood of the table he sat at, the movement sharp and curt, full of annoyance that almost gave his skeletal hand life of its own.
He hated libraries. He didn’t care what information they held, if he had to he would go, get what he was looking for and leave. He felt like he was short circuiting right there, listening to people huff and struggle with their allergies, unaware of his irritation with their heads buried in books. A strained look of agony and frustration rippled over his face, pale blue eyes desperate. He dropped the pencil he’d been holding, scratching in frustration at his forearm, then at his neck, over patches of scars that were hard to notice against his already pale skin. If it were at al possible to be allergic to people, Othello most certainly would be.
After running his hand through his straightened hair, he looked down at the table, dropping his hand. In front of him sat several books on colleges and universities, specifically what scholarships would get you where. If it’d been up to Ollie, he would have just checked them out, left and returned them a few hours later. But no, they were sunshine public material that needed to stay in the library, especially for seniors. Not like any of them cared half as much as he did. They had the money, the support and whatever else to get to whatever college they chose. Once he was eighteen, his grandparents would drop their responsibility to him other than to invite him over for Christmas, possibly Thanks Giving even though they didn’t celebrate it.
Another sneeze, this time loud and sharp, from an indefinable table not too far away from him. A shudder raked its way down Othello’s spine, and for a very brief moment he looked like a scared horse, eyes wide and frantic, looking ready to spook. This was driving him princessing crazy, he didn’t know how long he could take it, sitting here listening to people, knowing their germs were airborne, everywhere. At that thought a drop of sweat rolled down the back of his neck and he seemed to become ten shades whiter than it had been moments earlier.
He couldn’t up and run, though. That was stupid. He wasn’t going to get sick, end up in a hospital, staring at the lights and wondering when it’d end, just from sitting in a library. It was so stupid how he was acting, it was weak, he felt pathetic and disgusting. Yet he sat here looking about to pass out. Looking down at detailed information on Stanford University, Othello squinted his eyes, lifting his arm to prop one elbow on the table, leaning his forehead onto the back of one of his gloved hands, feeling either dizzy or revolted with himself, he couldn’t tell which.
All on a particularly nice, sunny Friday afternoon. Othello could make everyday seem like a rainy day.

Ophelia walked into the library. People sneezing and coughing without covering their mouths, now that was just nasty. She noticed someone sitting by himself, so she walked over to him. "May I sit here?" she said pointing to the seat across from him. She was wearing blue jeans and a tank top.

Othello's teeth pressed down together hard as he heard the girl speak. These people just made him sick and the girl with the I'm-oh-so-innocent doe voice wasnt going to make it any better. "No. Eat shxtand die." Brief, violently eloquent and to the point.

She looked over at him when he said that, "there is no other seats in this place, could I take the chair with me and go somewhere else?" she asked with a tone in it. He was very rude and was going to make her mad as well.
