Natalie was relaxing, a book open in her lap. It was Rockbound, not an exciting read. As she was new to WCA, it was a good idea to keep a low profile and not attract attention, not be too eccentric until she had a few friends to hang out with. She would call herself in the rebel's clique, but she couldn't really say that until she had friends IN that clique. All Natalie wanted was just to be normal, but she had a talent of attracting trouble that could make her look really strange. She just hoped she wouldn't be whispered about.
On the table beside her was an espresso, double-shot, hot hot hot. She was still a bit tired after the tournament. The doctor told her to get some rest. phht. Like that was going to happen. She took a sip of her coffee and leaned back in her chair, feeling a teensy bit ill. She wondered if it was post injury sickness. Does that even exist? Anyways. All I got was a couple of bruises. Because of ze pretty Vite harsey! Ohmigod, I've gone insane. she hoped a distraction would come along soon.

Todd paid an uncountable sum of money for his coffee. Why was coffee so expensive now? All he wanted was a fair trade inky black coffee. Fair Trade, if anything, should be cheaper, so people would buy it and give the sumatran children some hope of a future. He took it over to the library secion. He had a novel, Silvanus Now, which he wanted to finish this week in his laptop bag thing. It was written by someone pretty close to him. She was a Newfie named Donna Morrisey. His mum knew her well. He poked around in his pocket for a tip, which the grumbly attendant barely deserved, and popped it in the jar.
Noticing that everyone was spread out between tables, he would have to choose someone to sit with. He casually strolled over to the table with Natalie sitting at it, and hesitantly, he said,
"Er- Are you expecting someone here?"

"Are you expecting someone here?"
"no, no, Of course not," she replied as if everyone knew that no one wanted to hang out with her. She moved her stuff, picking up her coffee and her book, making more room for the boy who had just joined her. "My name is Natalie. I'm new here. What's yours?" She studied her book, wondering if she should continue reading or not. She picked up her coffee instead and took a sip. Natalie studied him from over the rim of her cup. She quickly looked down before the boy could meet her eyes.
