Let's face it. School is just a time where people go to socialize with their friends, hear the latest gossip, partake in the use of drugs, and bash on the nearest fashion tragedy. And Chris wanted no part of that. Yeah, he had plenty of friends here that he could be spending his lunch time with, but somehow the calling of his guitar was always stronger. He had it here for advanced musical class, which was really an excuse for anyone good at an instrument to get a free period. His guitar, or more correctly, his baby was kept in the music room all day until he took it home, and at lunch the music room was deserted. What more could a guy ask for?
Chris made his way into the door as quietly as possible. He didn't want some teacher to catch him. After all, he wasn't technically supposed to be in here. Once in the door his feet flew to the oppisite wall where his guitar case was. He felt like he couldn't get there fast enough. He pulled it down from the shelf. His hands shook in anticipation, for right now he HAD TO play. Just had to. Chris's shakey fingers managed to undo the latches and swing open the case. He picked up his baby and swung the strap over his shoulder. He pulled a pick from his pocket and began to play. The song just came to him, as they often did when he had the feeling of needing to play.
"I see a sparkle Deep inside your eyes As we sit and Watch the world go by And suddenly everything Seems so beautiful tonight And suddenly I feel So alive As we sit and Take God's beauty in And the clouds turn pink As the night sets in And suddenly it seems like your glowing Shining in the night And suddenly it feels like time is slowing And everything feels so right With you
Would you stay here now Don't you make a sound Let the world fade away, just fade away Time stands still with you I'm lost inside of you As the stars shine"
The moments when Chris played were moments away from life. It was like he was on the outside looking in on himself. Seeing this school, seeing the boy sitting in the music room in his jeans and button up shirt with the rolled up sleeves. He was seeing the song unfold, not creating it.
"And here we are Lost in the moment again And here I am Not wanting this to end
So stay here now Dont make a sound as we wait for the End of time tonight So stay here now Don't you make a sound Let the world fade away, just fade away Time stands still with you I'm lost inside of you As the stars shine"
At the end of the hour, he would have to sit in the stuffy classrooms that kept him from the outdoors. Even in January it was beautiful. He would have to give his report in Biology. He would have to sit in hard chairs in front of plain, dull, and drab desks. But right now, all he had to do was sit, and play guitar. Chris sighed as he realized that this song of his was ending.
"Stay with me tonight... Stay with me tonight... Stay with me tonight...
Don't make a sound"
And then, all too suddenly, the song was over.

Star was walking down the hall when she noticed a boy going into a classroom. It wasn't like that's not a normal sight, seeing people going to class. But this boy was different, he looked like he wasn't supposed to be there. Star looked around and jumped behind some lockers, she didn't want the boy to see her. And as soon as she heard the click of the door closing, she jumped out of her hiding place and ran up to the door. She was careful not to make a sound as she put her ear to the door. She could hear someone singing and playing their guitar. Once she heard him stop, she slowly opened up the door and stepped in. Closing the door behind her, she spoke, "That was beautiful."

His song had just barely come to an end, but Chris didn't even have time to regret that moment because a voice spoke and startled him. He jumped and nearly dropped his guitar on the ground, but luckily he had remembered the shoulder strap this time. He quickly rose and spun around to see the girl standing just inside the doorway.
"Uh, thank you." Chris managed to make out. He wasn't normally shy or nervous around new people, it was more just that he hadn't meant for the song to be heard. He had after all just made up the music on the spot and the words he had only just thought of last hour. He liked his songs to be much more refined before he had anyone else listen to them. But, it really didn't matter all to much now because she had heard it. And apparently had liked it enough to make her pressence known.

Star smiled. He looked suprised to see her. She bit her lip and walked over to where he was sitting. "Did you write that?" she asked. Star thought about it before she said something, "That would make a awesome duet with someone, such as Takiera Watson." She said, casually, "Ya know, it she did that kinda thing."
((sorry its short))

"Yeah. I wrote it. Kinda. Actually, I really just sort of made it up last period. I haven't written it down yet. I still have to do that. " Chris said. He really wasn't all that sure if he liked it enough to write it down yet. But this girl seemed to like it. Maybe that meant it was actually good. He sure hoped so. It had come to him on inspiration, and the songs like that he normally liked the best.
When the girl mentioned Takiera Watson, Chris's face lit up slightly. Takiera was his favorite singer ever. The songs she wrote were phenomenal and inspirational. "Ha. I wish." Chris said. He doubted anyone so famous as Takiera would even listen to a song by some average guy who just wrote because it was something he felt he needed to do. Along with singing and playing guitar. He wasn't good enough to even be noticed by the talented Takiera. "Too bad I'm not famous and if she ever sang a duet it would be with Jesse McCartney or someone like that."
It would be the best day of Chris's life if he even got to meet Takiera, let alone sing a song with her. But now he just sounded like some crazed teenage girl fan. It was really strange for him to have such a crush on a celebrity. That was just not something that Chris did. But, ever since he came to America and had seen that face on every TV around he couldn't help himself.

"Well ya better write it down before you forget it." Star joked. She knew he probably wouldn't, but it was an awsome song and it would be a shame if he did. She would really like to sing it with him one day.
Star smiled as his face lit up. Maybe he liked Takiera. Star thought for a moment, "Well she is coming to town and doing a few concerts." Then Star took a few steps and turned back to Chris. "And just maybe I know of a contest she is having to find someone to open for her on her little mini tour." Star smiled as she waited for it to register in Chris's mind. It was perfect. She was looking for someone to open for her, and she really liked Chris's singing. So it was perfect.

For a moment Chris just stared at her disbelievingly. Someone as big as Takiera didn't have someone to open for her? He supposed it was possible, since he wasn't a crazy stalker teenie bopper girl, he didn't really know when she had contests or anything. Of course, he had been aware that she was playing a few concerts here. He had front row tickets to two of them, not that he would ever openly admit that. He already got so much crap from his friends about the type of music he played, and Chris strongly doubted that they would appreciate Takiera's music. They all seemed to be more into anything that involved alot of peircings and headbanging.
Finally he managed to stutter out a few words to break his stunned silence. "What is the contest?" It seemed like all contests now days were something completely crazy that Chris would never stoop to the level of doing. Like, who had the most pictures of her on their walls? That was just a little bit creepy. Some people had every inch of wall covered in Takiera's face. Their walls could be made of pudding, and no one would ever know because the pictures hid it all.

Star smiled at his reaction. She really did need someone to open for her, and in fact she had a meeting later that day with her manager (her dad) and a few other people who were working on her mini tour. This was the perfect opportunity. And the fake "contest" idea was an added bonus.
Star thought for a moment, she hadn't thought about what to say if he asked her about it. So she'd just have to think of something on the spot. "Umm.... It's kind of the thing where you just mail an audition tape to a certian adress and include why you think they should pick you." Star smiled, not bad for on the spot thinking.

"Well, if you don't mind, you should most definately help me get that address." Chris said with an excited smile. That sounded like the kind of contest that all contests should be, based on talent. "Now all I need is a Camera." He added in a sort of mumble to himself, making a mental note to head down to the a/v lab later and pick one up claiming it was for a school project. "I'm Chris, by the way." He said looking up at the girl who had just helped him so much and realizing that they had not yet exchanged those ever pesky introductions.
Chris's mind was off somewhere else however, for at that moment he had realized just the song he would sing for the audition tape. It was a song he had written long ago after realizing that he would probably never get the chance to meet Takiera. All he had to do now was change of few of the words and it would be perfect.

Star realized she hadn't even asked his name or told him hers. "My name is Star. And I will definitley get that adress to you, but I have got to be going. " She said, walking to the door. But before she opened the door she turned back. "It was nice meeting you!" Star added. She opened the door and stepped out. Once outside she did a little dance. It was going to be perfect, she would get a cute opening act for Takiera.

Chris watched the girl leave a little bit stunned. It took until he left to wonder what it was that was so oddly familiar about that girl. But the name Star just didn't ring a bell at all. Something nagging at the back of his mind about her bothered him through the whole time it took to put the guitar back into the case. 'Oh well,' He thought with a sigh, ' she was helpful, and kind of cute.' He put his guitar back up on the shelf and walked out the door, still filled with the exciting prospect. But he was sure math class would manage to kill that one.
