Nathan nodded slowly facing forward. "Mm, well that's good I guess. It bothers me when girls are so determined to get a boyfriend that they don't even care who it is." He had seen that a lot, and people getting all miserable just because no one was interested in them at that moment. It wasn't a pleasant thing to watch, people seemed to get way to caught up in high school romances.
Nathan turned to Gwynne. "Or do you not have a boyfriend due to the fact that you have a girlfriend?" He asked grinning. He was pretty sure that Gwynne was, in fact, straight but he tried not to asked that too jokingly, just in case his thoughts might be wrong. Whether his assumption was right or wrong, he was expecting to be slapped.

Gwynne stared at him then covered her face with her hand, shaking her head. When she uncovered her face, she was smiling widely and trying not to laugh. She supposed it was karma that she received a gay jibe.
"No," she grinned. "If I had a girlfriend, I would have the pride to say so." A giggle escaped her, which she promptly stifled any more with her hand. Once the little fit subsided, she said, "If I were a homosexual, would you still be my friend?"
Whether she was unsure or not that Nathan was her friend, she didn't let the uncertainty show. She preferred the other person to decide for themselves whether an addition to their circle was right enough.

Nathan grinned, glad that she found that amusing instead of insulting. He briefly wondered what DID make Gwynne angry, she didn't seem like the type of person who you could hurt very easily. Of course Nathan would never hurt anyone intentionally, especially Gwynne.
Gwynne's question had surprised him. 'If I were a homosexual, would you still be my friend?' She considered him a friend? Nathan tried not to appear surprised or uneasy, but that was how he felt. Gwynne was definitely the closest thing he had to a friend, but what was a friend really? Nathan was beginning to doubt his childhood description as a friend since Gwynne apparently considered him a friend but was definitely hiding something from him. He thought about it for a moment and decided that he didn't want to hurt Gwynne's feelings ethier way.
"Of course I would be," he finally answered. He didn't discriminate against people who were different, that had always been on of his strengths.

Gwynne nodded, amused and satisfied with his answer. Even if it didn't exactly go off into a speech, short and simple usually did it for Gwynne. She found herself a tad hypocritical. She ran off into rants and speeches a lot, if she found a passionate enough subject, but never really enjoyed hearing someone else's. The only exceptions were when she was able to add her own input, making the rant even longer than it already was.
She let Nathan take his time. To her, she thought him to take a lot of things seriously and take the time to think things over. Gwynne saw him as a person who didn't want to hurt, or insult. So he tried to take the smartest route possible. She thought that clever. That's the way you avoid fights, she thought to herself.
Once he answered, she said, "Good, because now I can tell you that I am.." She held the suspension over Nathan, grinning like she was about to tell him that his ears were purple. "Quite straight."
She snickered.

Nathan grinned at her 'confession'. Gwynne could definitely make the dullest things amusing. He wasn't particularly expecting her to say she was a lesbian. Bisexual, maybe. But the way she made it suspenseful made him begin to doubt his beliefs.
"Well, that's good to know." He replied with a smile. He debated on whether to confirm his sexual orientation, but decided to see if Gwynne was curious enough to ask, but he thought it was probably obvious, although he didn't know why it would be.

Gwynne gestured at him. "And you?" she asked.
She had no doubt in her mind that he was straight. Bisexual maybe. He looked the part of the emo clique and half of those kids were bi these days. Perhaps he wasn't yet aware of what gender he was sexually attracted to. The thought of this nearly brought giggles back to her lips, but she held them back.
"Hetero, homo, bi?" she smiled with the innocence of an imp. Meaning barely any.

Nathan ran his fingers through his hair then looked at her with raised his eyebrows, deciding to make her guess. "Well, what do you think I am?"
He wasn't generally expecting a serious answer, knowing Gwynne she'd probably make up a word to use. That thought make Nathan smile slightly, that seemed exactly like the type of thing she would do. Although he didn't think Gwynne would answer seriously, he was curious to see what people thought about him, maybe there was a reason why he usually seemed invisible to them.

Gwynne eyed him, making a great show of thinking it through. After holding her index finger and thumb to her eye and "squishing" Nathan's head between her fingertips, she said airily, "I believe you to be.."
She had the look of being ready to burst out laughing any time, yet somehow she managed not to. She now thought Nathan was definitely straight. Why else would someone ask that? If he were gay, like some guys, he'd probably skirt around the question and try to change the topic. To many with different orientations, it was a touchy subject.
She continued on though. "I believe you to be," clearing of the throat, "Heteromobisexual. Mostly heterosexual though." She winked and grinned teasingly. "Am I right? Eh? Eh?"

The corner of Nathan's mouth twitched. Gwynne was getting so unpredictable that it was predictable, to him at least. Nathan could learn about someone so easily by just watching them, when he acctually got to talk to them he learned a lot more.
"I..guess that would be considered right," he said, amused. He had never had a crush on anyone or had a girlfriend but Nathan had never questioned his orientation, that was one thing he was sure about. Nathan's gaze traveled back to the grass, starting to feel this subject dying.

Gwynne rolled her eyes. "You guess?" She crossed her arms and leaned back against the tree. "You know what? I challenge you to a game of Truth or Dare."
She grinned, evil dares already pushing their way to the top of her priority list. If he subjected to it, she'd be ready. She had her own dose of Truth or Dare, being the one to eat a s-p-o-o-n of salt and brush her teeth with mustard. If she couldn't handle something, then almost nobody could.
The thing Gwynne had the most trouble wish was the Truth part of the game. Whenever her friends inquired for her crush, she would blush and refuse to answer, and, if pushed, tell the half-truth. It wasn't lying, but it wasn't being full honest either. Half-truths had gotten her out of more situations than she'd care to count.

Nathan bit his lip, looking at the ground. Truth or dare, that seemed like a game Gwynne would be really good at. Nathan, not so much. He was never good at dares, doing them or thinking of them. And truth was never a good choice when you had as many secrets as Nathan did, of course many of those wouldn't come up. He could always be a wimp and only pick truth. Nathan briefly thought about his options and finally decided that he'd take a chance. He drew in a breath.
"Alright. I accept your challenge." Nathan said lifting his head and looking at Gwynne. He tried to look confident in his decision, but the trust was he was nervous. Gwynne seemed to be the creative type, even if he did hide behind truths who knew what she would come up with? He could always lie if one of his secrets happened to pop up, although he had never been a good liar. Nathan decided not to worry about it, which was going to be difficult.

Gwynne's lips curved into what could be described as a sadistic smile. Her challenge accepted, she planned on making the most of her time. Quickly she thought over her options. She would go first, to introduce the game, of course. But, if Nathan were to pick truth, what would she say? She thought it over, her mouth twisted and pouting to the side. Something about his past, for sure. Gwynne didn't know much about him, and this game was a good start. Parents? No, by the looks of it, that would be a touchy subject. Maybe the scariest thing he's ever been through, or has seen. That seemed good enough.
But if it were a dare, what then? Something that would make Nathan excited, embarrassed and thirsty of revenge all in one. She had to get him riled up enough for the game to get exciting. If she could, she'd get a lot of caffeine packed pop, or some alcohol. That would get the game very interesting. Maybe even too much.
Gathering herself together from her deep reverie, she spoke, "Alright, here are the rules: Sexually-related dares only go if the dare-ee commits him or herself to it. All truths must be answered honestly. If a dare or truth is to be denied, the dare-ee must face the consequences and perform a dare and truth of the dare-ers choice. Got it?" She smiled satisfactorily.
"Truth or dare?"

Nathan listened to the rules and gave a brief nod. The seemed fair, but the lying one wasn't thrilling to hear, although he wasn't planning to lie anyway. The decision of whether to pick truth or dare wasn't a hard one, he had already decided before Gwynne had asked, he was going to be a coward.
"Truth." Nathan answered without hesitation. If she were to asked about his past then that probably wouldn't go over well. He hoped she would pick something that wasn't too personal. Again, he caught himself worrying and mentally kicked himself.
Nathan pushed all his thoughts aside and looked at Gwynne, waiting for his question.

Gwynne jutted her chin out, lips forming a pout. Truth? A cowardly choice, but why was she surprised. This was Nathan after all. Even if she hadn't known him for a long time, he was quiet and observant. Not something willing to "go out there".
"Okay," she ended up saying simply. Now was her choice. On second thought, she pondered the possibilities of Nathan ever being through something scary or frightening, escape the misplacement of his razor- No. He wasn't that sort of emo.. At least she hoped not. She couldn't stand the cutting type.
She shook herself mentally and stated her question. "If you could see anyone naked, girl or guy, who would it be?"
Gwynne grinned. The sexual questions always got the blushing going.

Nathan frowned. That didn't seem like a fair question, right now he had equal feeling toward every girl he knew. Well, that was a lie, Gwynne definitely stood out from the bunch, but only because she was his friend, but he didn't want to see her naked. He thought about picking a celebrity, but there was one problem with that, he didn't know any celebrities. Not really anyway, the majority of the bands he listened to consisted of only guys, and he was sure he didn't want to see any of them naked. He really wasn't sure.
"Well..I'm not picky. Any girl near my age..I guess." Nathan answered, knowing that it wouldn't be a good enough answer for Gwynne, but at least it would give him some more time to think about his answer, though it probably wouldn't help. He waited for Gwynne's protests.
